Although the idea of couples wearing matching apparels is sometimes met with disapproval- especially among Western folks- but I believe we all have different ways by which we communicate our feelings to the world around us. Hence, couples who have chosen to turn out in coordinating outfit have the purpose [which is usually love inclined] for so doing, and should be allowed the freedom of wearing such outfits. However, I will like to stress the fact that it is important for couples to wear matching outfits in a manner that projects complementarity or coordination [in colour and/or style].

That said, I will like to further look into the minds of couples so as to give possible reasons why they settle for matching sets [of clothing]. In this wise, I have come up with the following [reasons]:

• Proclamation of love

The obvious reason why couples don matching outfits is to show the world that they- one to his/her significant other- are proud of the love they have got for each other. Staking a claim on each other, you might want to conclude.

• Strengthening the bond of unity

Love can certainly not thrive where there is an aura of disharmony, and in dressing alike, couples tend to stay together for long(er) period of time- a lasting union could be hinged upon a couple's devotedness to dress complementarily. This takes us to the next [and final] reason in this article.

• Fostering the stability of a relationship

A couple that dresses alike could probably be one whose relationship reflects an appreciable degree of solidity- take Donald and Nancy Featherstone as a case study. The stability is built as the couple gets to communicate more often in order to plan out the style it would eventually settle for.

Notwithstanding, the longevity of any union cannot- and should not- solely be hinged on wearing matching outfits but rather on commitment [to love]- which in turn lead the pair to sharing things in common.
